We asked Kat all about her unique children’s music franchise. Find out how her dynamic pop choir business got started and how the franchise opportunity developed. Kat tells us what makes an ideal franchisee for VoxFresh and the sort of training and support every new franchisee can expect to receive when they join the team.
How has it grown since then?
VoxFresh now has three centres; Newbury, Basingstoke and Derby. We are at the start of our franchise journey with planned expansion throughout the UK in the coming years. We have just returned from our first project that involves singers from all three centres, a tour in New York, USA, in October 2024.
We now work with 150 singers a week aged 4-18 enabling them to sing songs they love, feel their feelings, and make a host of new friends.
Weโre fully accredited members of the Childrenโs Activities Association, Institute of Childrens Activity Providers (ICAP) and an Emerging Member of the British Franchise Association (BFA).
We are excited about our journey ahead and getting more young singers and UK entrepreneurs involved in our unique VoxFresh adventure!
What makes an ideal franchisee for your franchise?
There are no specific qualifications you need to be a VoxFresh franchisee โ the most important thing is an enjoyment of music and a passion for changing young peopleโs lives.
You need to have a drive to succeed but also the humility to succeed. From top to bottom VoxFresh is all about achieving things as a team so being a team player is essential.
You canโt be scared of hard work, but you must be ready to celebrate the achievements you make too, both as an individual and for the customers of your VoxFresh centre.
Patience is key โ young people can be vulnerable, especially in a creative environment and itโs really important we allow the space for individual needs and responses. And throw the customer management of parents into the mix and that patience is essentialโฆbut incredibly rewarding!
Tell us about the financial side of things.
The initial franchise fee is ยฃ8995 plus VAT. We can give further guidance on funding opportunities for start-up businesses.
This initial fee fully equips you and your VoxFresh centre to be ready to go come launch day as well as ongoing training and support beyond this point to ensure the long-term success of your VoxFresh franchise.
Once your VoxFresh centres are launched you will pay an ongoing management fee of 10% plus a marketing levy of 2.5%.
In terms of your earning potential this is very much a case of getting out what you put in, but the running of VoxFresh centres can provide you with your sole income without the need to have other work alongside. Our franchise prospectus includes further illustration of this and we can discuss individual potential on our discovery calls together.
How flexible is your franchise opportunity?
You can build your VoxFresh business around you, your lifestyle and your family commitments.
You can choose whether you take the role of centre manager and work with teachers to deliver the sessions (meaning music ability isnโt essential) or to take on the teaching yourself.
Our sessions run during the week so weekends can be kept clear and there are additional branches beyond the core VoxFresh centre which can be integrated into your business in due course to maximise your earning potential.
What kind of training and support do you provide?
Your core training is delivered in four phases throughout the first year of your VoxFresh centres. The pre-launch phase means that youโre all ready to go with systems and knowledge of the brand, resources, finance and marketing. The further phases develop these skills to ensure success while avoiding overwhelm along the way. It also gives you the opportunity to reflect on your own performance and needs so we can tailor the training to help YOU!
Your core training will be a mixture of online and face-to-face sessions.
We will then provide regular additional training through the year responding to the needs of the network as well as inspiring you to keep your young singers inspired! We will create support hubs both with the VoxFresh office team and the franchise network so you will never feel alone.
