Franchisor Interview

Name: OLIVIA NICHOLSON

Role: FOUNDER AND FRANCHISOR

We interviewed Olivia about her exciting music franchise and how she spotted a gap in the market for classes that were based around live musical instruments. Here she shares the business journey so far, what makes an ideal Rock Out Baby franchisee and the sort of support and training every new member of the team can expect.

Although I could always sing, I taught myself ukulele and worked tirelessly on crafting the perfect music class with children AND grown up's in mind. The response from the community was amazing and from that moment everything changed! Within 6 months I had to hire 2 more people to keep up with demand and the response from the parents was overwhelming. Excitingly, we now have a small team of Rock Out Baby franchisees run their own Rock Out Baby music classes on their own terms and they're doing exceptionally well.

In becoming part of our Rock Out Baby team itโ€™s imperative that you are passionate about music and the creative arts, that you are passionate about children's development and that you have the drive to build your own business. Itโ€™s important that you can sing and perform in front of big groups of people and be willing to learn ukulele or guitar.

The upfront franchise fee isย ยฃ3,950ย per area (subject to negotiation) along with an ongoing monthly fee of 10% of sales. Upfront fee can be paid in instalments if necessary.

Running Rock Out Baby can be very lucrative as a part time lifestyle business and even more lucrative as a full time business. As franchisee, you get to choose your hours to suit your life and family, your earnings will reflect that. The more classes you run andย  the more nursery contracts you acquire, the more income you have. On average though our franchisees turn over about 25K for 3 days a week 36 weeks of the year working part time around their families but several more established areas now have an income over 40 or 50K and earnings of over 25 or 30K (and still all the school holidays off with their kids!).

Rock Out Baby is incredibly flexible. You work the hours you want aroundย  your other commitments and family life. We do ask that each franchisee works at least 2 mornings a week running 5 classes over the week. This is to make sure youโ€™re making the most of your territory.

The Rock Out Baby training and support is very hands on. Once you join Rock Out Baby youโ€™ll get access to all of our training videos, sheet music, and weekly lesson plans. in terms of face to face training - Its very organic. You can go as slow or as fast as you like and we will help facilitate that process for you. There's an opportunity for you to come and shadow our sessions so you can see how they run. There will also be ongoing one-to-one training with Olivia to help you with anything and everything you need: From tightening up your ukulele technique to helping you develop your social media skills! Not only that but once you join Rock Out Baby you become part of our wonderful supportive community of franchisees. We really look after each other, you are never alone and we genuinely care about your success.
