Franchisor Interview

Name: JO MORRIS
Role: FRANCHISOR
Mini Lingos was founded in 2014 by Jo Morris โ a fully qualified and highly experienced secondary school teacher of Spanish and Business Studies, and mum of 2 boys.โโโ We asked her about the business including the journey to franchising, what qualities make an ideal franchisee and the benefits of joining this flexible and rewarding new franchise opportunity.
How has it grown since then?
Mini Lingos has just gone from strength to strength. As our reputation spread, we quickly became the go-to provider of early years Spanish across Hertfordshire, North London and Middlesex.
Now, weโre growing even more through franchising โ giving other Spanish speakers the chance to run their own Mini Lingos business, with our full support behind them.
One of our core values is โExcellence in all that we do,โ so weโre especially proud to have already been accredited by the British Franchise Association (BFA).
What makes an ideal franchisee for your franchise?
Essentially, weโre looking for bubbly and energetic Spanish-speakers who love working with young children and have a real passion for sharing the Spanish language.
Youโll need to have ideally studied Spanish up to at least A-level or thereabouts, but if youโre feeling a little rusty we can help you brush up with some refresher training.
While weโre not looking for professional singers, youโll need to feel comfortable singing and performing in front of others โ and not be afraid to act a bit silly. After all, thatโs half the fun when youโre working with young children!
Tell us about the financial side of things.
Our franchise fee is just ยฃ3,000 and if you need help with funding, weโve got trusted relationships with lenders offering government-backed start-up loans.
Like any business, your potential earnings depend on the time and energy youโre able to put in, as well as how you decide to grow and shape your franchise. But we give you everything you need to get off to a strong start and make it a success.
How flexible is your franchise opportunity?
As a mum of two, it was important to me to create a business that was flexible enough to fit around family life, but still profitable enough to make it worth the effort. And thatโs the beauty of Mini Lingos. Youโre in control of your timetable, your growth and your work-life balance โ all while building something thatโs genuinely rewarding, both personally and financially.
What kind of training and support do you provide?
When you join Mini Lingos, youโre not just getting a business โ youโre getting full support to help you build something youโll really enjoy and feel proud of.
We have a comprehensive training programme that covers everything you need to know โ from planning and marketing, to running brilliant classes (and everything in-between).
The initial training includes three in-person days at our Hertfordshire HQ, plus three half-days online and you'll also get the chance to visit classes in action and shadow experienced teachers.
Once you're up and running, the support continues, with regular check-ins, ongoing training and resources to help with both business and wellbeing.
